Medina County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Humane Investigations

Our Humane Officer investigates and, if necessary, prosecutes  cases
of animal cruelty, abuse or neglect.

She has a mission to protect animals throughout Medina County by
investigating cases of animal neglect and cruelty. She is appointed by
the court and is a certified County Humane Officer who has had special
training and years of experience working with animals. A Humane
Officer is a peace officer, similar to a police officer's status as a peace
officer, and may exercise the powers of a peace officer anywhere
within Medina County to prevent the perpetration of any act of cruelty
or neglect upon any animal.

Most of the complaints investigated by the Humane Officer come from
concerned citizens. Many referrals come from other enforcement
agencies. e.g. local police departments or Sheriffs department).   A big
part of the Humane Officer's job involves education: teaching people
the basic principles of humane treatment towards animals and helping
owners find solutions before problems escalate.

The Medina County SPCA wants to hear from you if you have
information about animal neglect, cruelty, and abuse. For more
information on Humane Investigations or to report a suspected case
of animal cruelty or neglect, please call us.
