Medina County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Now is an excellent time to become a
volunteer for the Medina County SPCA!

Our volunteers are an essential part of our programs and our
efforts on behalf of the animals. The volunteers may work
directly with the animals as foster homes and in animal care
facilities, such as our Petsmart cages (cleaning, feeding and
socializing the animals), animal transport to veterinarians or
clinics or may serve during special events and other activities in
the community. Our volunteers also assist us in continuing our
educational presentations in local schools.

You can choose to work on specific events or volunteer for an
ongoing committee.

It is impossible to express how important the volunteers
are to our continued work!

We currently have many opportunities for volunteers.  There is
something for everyone, whether you have a large or small
amount of time to give.  You can volunteer from home, from
your car, or at our fund raising events.  You choose the location
and the times!  Simply read the brief descriptions below to find
your area of interest and contact our
Volunteer Coordinator,
Nancy Bloom
, to learn how you can get started!  Her phone
number is 330/239-2300 or
email her here.

FOSTER HOME
Do "purrs", "wags" or "puppy kisses" make your day? Then
consider being a cat or dog foster home. We d
esperately need
caring, responsible pet lovers to join our foster home team by
opening their homes and their hearts. Foster homes provide
the love, security and daily care a rescued animal needs.
Everything else is provided to you
- we will pay for food,
supplies and veterinary care
.  For additional information, leave
a message at 330-723-7722 box #7.

EVENT COORDINATORS
Volunteers are needed to help with the promotion,
coordinating, and planning of community events. This is an
excellent opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with
people and being creative.
Email our volunteer coordinator to
find out more!

PROMOTERS
Do you ever run errands? Do you have a bulletin board at
work? Then you can help promote the SPCA! We need
volunteers to put up flyers on community bulletin boards. We
provide the flyers and you hang them at your convenience
while you are out or at work. The perfect way for busy people
to help!
Email our volunteer coordinator to find out more!

PHONE WORK
Do you like to talk on the phone? Volunteers are needed to
retrieve voice mail messages from various phone lines, return
calls and direct messages to the appropriate people. We
operate on a voice mail phone system. We receive a great deal
of messages on these lines and help is needed every day of
the week. This is done from the convenience of your home and
within your daily schedule.
Email our volunteer coordinator to
find out more!

HUMANE EDUCATION
Are you good with kids? Are you good at speaking in front of
others? Then we NEED you! We need volunteers to make
presentations to schools, youth groups and community groups.
We have a Fun Facts activity book for pre-school and school
age children. Through education, we can promote the proper
care of animals and the importance of responsible pet
ownership. If you are able to help,
Email our volunteer
coordinator to find out more!

FUNDRAISING
The Medina County SPCA receives no federal or state funding,
so our fundraising events are a crucial part of the financing we
need to operate. Volunteers are needed to make phone calls to
members for event staffing, to contact merchants for donations,
sell tickets, bake, cover a shift at an event, hand out literature
and chair an event. New faces and ideas are needed.
Email our
volunteer coordinator to find out more!  Or attend a fundraising
committee meeting - members welcome!  See
Events page for
next meeting date.

RECYCLE
Organize an aluminum can recycling event to benefit the
animals. The SPCA profits from cans dropped off at the Medina
City Garage (781 West Smith Rd). Collected Saturdays from
10am-noon. Ask family, friends and neighbors to help. Clubs
and groups add the SPCA as one of your community service
projects. Other aluminum, brass and copper are collected
separately. Talk to Bob on Saturdays 10am-noon for details or
